04.-09.03.2018 DPG spring meeting 2018 in Erlangen

Sometimes even physicists (yeah, even that anti-social kind of people!) meet up to share their achievements, give talks and prepare poster on that. Here you can read more about this year`s DPG spring meeting

Lively discussions on our poster

In this year`s DPG spring meeting our group had four contributions:

André gave a talk on Precision Paul trap for frequency metrology with Coulomb crystals.

Jan gave a talk on Nanofriction & the Aubry-type transition in self-organized systems under the influence of the crystal environment.

Indy contributed with a poster with the topic Towards a test of Local Lorentz Symmetry with 172Yb+ ions.

Tabea and Nimrod contributed with a poster on a Non-magnetic setup for an Indium multi-ion clock.

These talk and poster sessions gave us the chance to get to know what other groups in our field are doing, to talk to them about their strategy, ask questions about their experiments or discuss about problems in the lab that may have been solved by others.

Besides these official "events" we also had time to discover the city of Erlangen, have a meal together with friends or go and have a beer in a pub in the evening.

It was a pretty fun week and a nice change to the usual lab week.  Whoever has the chance to go on such a conference, I would highly recommend you to take the chance since that is an experience you won`t forget!
